Gateway to Business – ‘Meet and Discuss’ at Gurgaon

Following the first round of Meet and Discuss in Rotterdam in January, the Netherlands India Desk took the second roundtable discussion in Gurgaon, India this month. Held at the office of SR Works, its creative partner in India, the event was held on February 13, 2010 and attended by various SME’s from Gurgaon and nearby cities. The focus of the event was the three main sectors, infrastructure, information technology and water, where Netherlands and India has the biggest potential of collaboration. Opportunities in different sectors were also discussed.

Top honchos from different sectors in India represented their companies. Gracing the event was Mr. P K Tripathi, Chairman of the Unitech SAI Group, one of the major real estate company in India and Convenor of Infrastructure Panel of the Confederation of Indian Industry in Haryana.

According to Mr. Tripathi, the Meet and Discuss, Gurgaon was a promising occasion for discussing tie-ups between companies from the two nations.
Mr. Pranav Tripathi who visited the Netherlands recently spoke about his imminent tie-up with a Dutch company for his electronic wastes and bio-medical wastes entrepreneurship. He also mentioned that Dutch are straight talking people and quite professional as well.

Meanwhile, Ms. Suzie Grinwis of Valori, one of the largest independent project consultancies in the Netherlands, presided as the International Speaker of IT from the Netherlands. Ms. Grinwis discusses the opportunities in the IT sector and shared how the Dutch government is keen on promoting IT outsourcing.

NI Desk director, Ruchita Puri, said that there are sectoral gaps which need to be filled. Also, subsidies and funding for collaboration projects are available in Netherlands which could be explored by Indian SMEs. India is a prime investment destination because of its human resource asset who are adept with the English language. She also emphasized that agriculture, pharmaceuticals and solar technology are other focus areas.

A brief film presentation about the economic outlook in 2010 and the opportunities that are available for investors was also shown.
